Welcome to Marlie Stud – where we are passionate about traditional farming. Come and step back in time with us, visit our working draught horse farm and see our way of life. Take one of our interactive tours which take you around the farm in a horse drawn wagon. You can see our cropping paddocks, how we run our farm and all the horse drawn implements we use. Pat and brush the horses, have a go at milking a cow and collect some eggs from the chicken coop. Our tours are fun for young and old. Our horses can not wait to meet you.
Established in 1973 by Pat and Sid Samuel, Marlie Draught Horse Stud breeds quality working draught horses to the Australian Draught Horse Classification Standard. At Marlie Stud, we are passionate about farming with draught horses. We also enjoy competing in working horse events, such as ploughing and draught horse pull competitions across NSW.
At Marlie Stud, we breed horses for all forms of harness work as well as part-bred horses for performance needs. Our horses have the influences of the major Draught Horse breeds including but not limited to American Belgian, Suffolk Punch, Shire and Percheron. Marlie Stud’s aim is to bred superior working horses suited to the Australian environment.
Aleks and Karina Berzins, along with their three girls, are passionate about educating people on the traditional ways of farming and keeping history alive. Step back in time with them, as they take you on a tour of Marlie Stud and a working draught horse farm.
