200th Year of Royal Agricultural Society Parramatta Parade

Early morning on the 9th of April 2022, Aleks, Karina and the Marlie Stud draught horse team were at Parramatta Park getting ready for a once in a lifetime highlight – driving horses 14km down Parramatta Road to Sydney Olympic Park for 200 years of the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the Royal Agricultural Society.

Thankyou to Lord Mayor Donna Davis for such a warm welcome to Parramatta.

Our team consisted of 8 Australian Draught Horses – Lady and Sid in the shafts, Rubble, Banjo and Molly in the pin and Will, Clyde and Hank as the leaders driven by Aleks and Karina Berzins.

We are honored to have used our Bennett Wool Wagon which has previously gone all over Sydney with Wilf Norris. It was great to bring it back through Sydney again.

The parade of horseback riders, tractors and horse drawn wagons left Parramatta Park at 4.20am and reached Giant Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park at 6.40am.

Thankyou to our incredible team of horseman who came to help set up – Bruce Bandy, Col Bandy and Lachlan Jones. Thankyou to Steve Johnson for being on the brake. We appreciate each and every one of you.
